The Olde Dog Inn at Herongate Tye is a picturesque Essex weather boarded inn. Known to date from the early 16th century, the pub has been serving good beer and food for hundreds of years. Independently owned; our status as one of the few remaining free houses in Essex affords us the ability to offer a huge variety of seasonal beers, wines and food. The pub is very well known for its ever changing real ale selection, with gravity fed Guest Beers sourced from some of the countries finest Micro-Breweries sharing the bar with some more established National brands.
Seasonal availability dictates our menu’s and daily specials are always available alongside our regular menu. We strive to source as many ingredients as possible from Essex and using local suppliers wherever possible.

The Olde Dog Inn beer garden has undergone a huge transformation. Live music, children’s play area, outdoor bar and food options make it a great place to spend a sunny afternoon with the whole family.

Dogs are welcome in one area of the pub “The Dog House” – Please make sure to tell us if you are bringing a dog when booking due to lack of availability. Only Guide/Assistance dogs are permitted in our restaurant. Due to the age and nature of the pub we would like to make customers aware that unavoidably there are different levels to both the ceiling and floor.
We ask all dogs to be kept on lead in The Dog House to protect members of the public, other dogs and to stop dogs going into the bar.
If your dog is showing reactive or violent behaviour we do reserve the right to ask you to leave.
